Skydive Abreviatios

Abreviation:

Skydive Abbreviations:

AAD Abbrev. n, "Automatic Activation Device". A altitude sensing
device
used to automatically activate the opening sequence for a
parachute. Most commonly refers to their application to sport
reserve parachutes, but also used in other non-sport scenarios
such as ejection seats, etc.

AFF Abbrev. n, "Accelerated FreeFall". A training program for first
jump
students where the skydiving skills development rate is
accelerated over that of the older static line program, in the USA

Boogie n, A gathering of jumpers for the purposes of jumping and
socializing.
Typically, boogies will have large aircraft, unusual aircraft
(balloons, helicopters), special events (record attempts), or
some sort of competition as a focal point to attract jumpers
from widely diverse regions.

Bounce Colloquialism v, term for landing, after freefall, without the
aid of a
parachute. Also: hammer in, frappe, go in.

Canopy n, parachute.

CFS Abbrev., "Canopy Formation Skydiving". The new "official" term for
a
discipline of skydinvg in which jumpers *under canopy* fly
their parachutes together to form various formations. However,
most skydivers still refer to it as "CRW". (See CRW.)

CRW Abbrev., "Canopy Relative Work". Describes the maneuvering done
by
jumpers *under canopy* to fly their parachutes together to
form various formations. Sometimes referred to as CReW
(Crew). See CFS.

CSPA: Canadian Sport Parachute Association

DZ Abbrev. n, "Drop Zone". A place where parachuting operations take
place. This is may be a designated area, or frequently, a
commercial business which supplies aircraft, instruction, gear
sales and services.

Flare v, to pull down on both of the canopy's steering toggles in
order to
lower descent rate and forward speed just prior to landing. The
forward
speed is traded-off for lift. A flare performed too late has no effect,
a flare performed too early can result in a stall in which the canopy
looses forward speed and drops straight down. A correctly performed
flare results in an exceptionally soft landing.

FS Abbrev., "Formation Skydiving". The new "official" term for a
dicipline
of skydiving in which two or more jumpers fly relative to each
other *in freefall* in order to form various
formations. However, most skydivers refer to it as Relative
Work, or "RW." (See RW.)

Hook turn n, A high-speed turn with either the steering toggles or the
front
risers performed at very low altitude in order to build up
speed before landing. See "turf surf."

JM Abbrev. n, "JumpMaster". A jumper trained and certified to
supervise
students and/or novices during their jump.

JPS: Joey Positioning System: Joe Stanley Team Shreds Cameraman and spotting at WCP for Canada
main n, the primary parachute.

Opening shock n, The force experienced by the jumper due to the sudden
deceleration from terminal velocity due to the deployment of a
parachute.

PFF: Progressive Free Fall, A training program for first
jump
students where the skydiving skills development rate is
accelerated over that of the older static line program, in Canada

RW Abbrev., "Relative Work". Describes the freefall maneuvering
whereby
two or more jumpers fly relative to each other *in freefall*
in order to form various formations. See FS.

Reserve n, the secondary, or backup, parachute.

Round n, a class of parachutes designed to simply decelerate a body in
a
fluid medium. The classic parachute.

Square n, a class of parachutes designed to inflate and take the shape
of an
airfoil. These are more accurately rectangular in shape and
are semi-rigid wings.

Turf Surf v, (also, to "surf it") a high-speed style of landing. The
jumper
builds up speed (see Hook Turn) and then flares mere moments
before touchdown, resulting in a spectacular landing in which
the jumper skims mere inches above the ground at 30-40mph, for
up to 100 yards. Or, if the jumper flares too late, resulting
in a spectacular landing in which the jumper impacts the
ground, leading to medical bills, orthopedic surgery, and/or
death. Attempt this maneuver at your own risk!

USPA Abbrev. n, "United States Parachute Association".

Whuffo Colloquialism, n, A person who is not a skydiver (from the often-asked

On the main formation play page we are going to put a rotating add banner of 4 DZ's on top and 4 on the bottom banner of this page. The cost will cover the animation and link to youe skydive centre. Top banner the one everyone will see first because they will be on this page to activate the animated randoms & block formations. Jagworks will annimate the banner or logo you provide. it will roll over and stop on the 4 DZ banners for approx 15 sec's then it will roll to the next, this will continue for the time that the page is open and being accessd.

The cost of this will be, 1.Top banner $100.00 on the ransom and block page this includes a link to your DZ on the link page. Any banners on the pages banners top and bottom also include links on our DZ link page.

For this Virtual skydiving website there will be pages on as many networking site's as we can get on. I.e.: facebook, Twitter, etc. So advertising on this page will also be exposed to networking sites all over the net. We are also going to put a blogging section on the Virtual Skydiving web site.

Alsoi there will be a page dedicated to DZ links all over the world for which ever skydive centre wished to advertise. Bonus will be that the cost of the animated banners will also cover your skydive centre to have a link and add on this page. This add Page will also include a link to your DZ & school.

The other way you could bring your DZ competition into the age of todays Technology is to get the Jagworks Design team to annimate all 10 rounds. So instead of handing out photocopies of each round you could hand out an animated CD. It will have all the rounds animated and the space enough on the CD to also burn your promo animation or movie of what your DZ has to offer. Then handing these out for your competition will be well remebered and it will be shown to alot of non-skydiving types. So if you had your adds or movie's on the begining of this CD it will be good for everyone.

This Part of Jagworks Design web Site will be active as of July 1st 2010. It is the first of it's type ever put online in the world. So it being so unique for all Students and competition teams it will be followed by almost everyone on in the world of skydiving. Right now our design team are only making up 2 versions. Being in Canada I will be putting out a French versuon of this site. But Once it is up and open I will be emailing very DZ and skydiving school all over the world.

As it stands right now I will give you a private link so that you can see the potential of this part of my web site for training and referance purposes. I have also added grips regular and cheat so that it can better explained. So if this can help you promote your DZ around the world. Then sign up I will also be adding an announcment and blog page linked to the animation page and the add page. Also our team is putting together a CD with all the block and randoms as a CD referance to hand out to students as well. This will be online in 2 ways for sudents or non DZ's it you will be able to download it for only $1.00 if you are a DZ and with to add this random and blocks to wave this copy right so you can use this as a promotion tool for your DZ it will only cost $25.00 and you will recive a contract stating that Jagworks Design has waved the rights for your skydive centre so you can use this on your promotion CD. This does not wave the copy right to use it online. The online site will be a product of Jagworks Design and Virtual Skydiving. So the promotion potential here is Good for any DZ or event to promote I'm also looking at linking with Omniscore to have an update t this page too. This is the only page in the world that has annimated Competition Formation Block & Random So if you can see this original potential Please jump on... With my tech team we can also animate Meets instead of 10 rounds on Paper you could be handing out your meet rounds on CD with a promotion for your DZ at the begining so even after and reviewing the competition CD they and anyone else by the computer playing it it will play your adds and contact information. We are also putting together a student and begining RW persons a CD with all the indavidual Bocks & Randoms you could make availible to all your staff & students at your DZ. You could also copy these onto a CD with your promotion at the begining
